Max has always, throughout his career, tried to use his fortune to assist others less fortunate in life, being outspoken and pro-active with causes close to his heart. He fully supports the Livestrong Foundation’s work in the fight against cancer: “The work of Lance and his team at the Foundation is incredible, bringing hope to so many afflicted with this disease and working the nuts and bolts to get stuff done at a political level in an effective manner, we all have to support it.”
Mad Max met Paul Newman at the races, and enjoyed a long and respectful friendship with the icon through his CART days. Paul introduced Max to the fantastic work of his Hole in the Wall Camps for children living with serious and life-threatening medical conditions, a program designed to impact positively in their lives, and Max has since become part of the ‘Whole in the Wall Gang’.
Max also grew up with animals around his house, and still shares his home in various family pets. It is only natural he supports, wholeheartedly, the efforts of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
